Discretionary Grants

The TY Danjuma Foundation provides discretionary grants to support prompt humanitarian response to emergencies and relevant short term interventions that fall within its areas of focus.

Goal

The overarching goal of the discretionary grants scheme is to ensure responsiveness by the Foundation to legitimate needs that may arise between board meetings and before or after the annual call for concept notes.     

Types of Projects Support by TYDF Discretionary Grants

Projects to be considered for discretionary grants must:

  • Fall within the Foundation’s focus areas (Health and; Education & Skills Training);
  • Cleary identify a problem, propose solutions and out target beneficiaries;
  • Be rapid or short term with measurable outcomes and a concrete impact;
  • Cost less than or equal to five million naira (N5,000,000.00); and
  • Project the work of the Foundation.

Organisations Eligible to Apply for Discretionary Grants

To apply for a discretionary grant, the applicant must be:

  • A not-for-profit organisation registered and working in Nigeria;
  • Possess verifiable experience in one of the Foundation’s focus areas; and
  • Willing to comply with all the Foundation’s internal review processes. 

Response to Discretionary Grants Applications by the Foundation

The Foundation will respond to each request within seven (7) working days of receipt of an application.

Post Implementation Reporting by Grantees

All successful grantees will be required to submit comprehensive narrative and financial reports of interventions to the Foundation within two (2) weeks of project completion.

What type of projects do DGs support?

DGs are for short-term, quick impact and innovative interventions aligned with TY Danjuma Foundation’s key areas of grant focus. They are also used by the Foundation to provide humanitarian support.

Who is eligible for a DG?

Non Profit Organisations, including TY Danjuma Foundation’s grantees registered in Nigeria.

How long does it take for TY Danjuma Foundation to respond to applications?

The Foundation will respond to each request within seven (7) working days of receipt of an application

What is required of DG recipients upon receipt of the grant?

All successful DG recipients will be required to submit comprehensive narrative and financial reports of the interventions to TY Danjuma Foundation within one month of the completion of supported projects.

How long does it take to actually receive a DG fund?

From the time an application is received TY Danjuma Foundation will process a successful DG within 1-2 months.
