2016 Grantees

TY Danjuma Foundation has released a list of 18 Grantees for the 2016 Grant year. The Foundation approved One hundred and forty two Million, three hundred forty nine thousand three hundred and sixty two naira (N142, 349,362) for 18 grantees. Nine of the Grantees will work in Community Health Initiative with a total grant of N86, 826, 102 while nine Grantees will work in Education and Skills Training with a total grant of N55,523,260.

Organisation: Koyenum Immalah Foundation (KIF)

Project Summary: The fund will improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people living in 3 communities in Uhunmwonde LGA of Edo State through the drilling of 3 solar-powered boreholes; increase community awareness on sanitation and hygiene; build capacity for borehole; and establish community project committee to facilitate project implementation and sustainability.                 

Project Location: The projects will be implemented in Izikhovi, Uvbee & Ikhueniro Communities, Uhunmwonde LGA, Edo State

Organisation: Care Vision Support Initiative (CAVSI)

Project Summary: The grant will fund prevention of blindness, improve sight and enhance the wellbeing of 2000 less privileged in rural areas through comprehensive integrated eye care intervention in Ehor LGA, Edo state. The project will cater to Cataract surgery for 6 children under 18 years; provision of visual assessments for 300 secondary school children and 100 primary school children; cataract surgeries would be performed on 150 adult persons;1000 adults with presbyopia and refractive errors would be provided with corrective glasses; and 40 Health Care workers would receive primary eye care training.

Project Summary: Diagnosis, investigation and treatment of 90 patients (45 per state) with craniofacial diseases, ranging from facial cleft, tumours, cyst, TMJ alkalosis; and Training of indigenous health care providers in the hospital management of craniofacial anomalies.

Organisation: Hope for the Unborn Child Foundation (HUCF)

Project Summary: To increase hygiene and health status of 1200 IDPs at International Christian Centre IDP camp at Uhogua community, Ovia North East LGA, Edo State through the construction of VIP latrines and provision of personal and environmental hygiene lessons.                            

Project Location: IDP Camp at Uhogua, Ovia North East LGA, Edo State.

Organisation: Lux Terra Leadership Foundation (Psycho-Spiritual Institute)

Project Summary: To conduct a training of trainers program in Trauma healing for a range of 40 stakeholders to enable support to IDPs and other victims of violent conflict and natural or man-made disasters.

Organisation: Pro Health International (PHI)

Project Summary: To provide basic health care, including medical, surgical, ophthalmic and dental consultations and management to 1000 people in each selected communities in Taraba & Edo states; and to provide same to 2000 IDPs in Wukari, Taraba State.                                                             

Project Location: IDP: Wukari LGA, Taraba; Med Mission: Takum & Jalingo LGAs in, Taraba; & Ologbo in Edo State 

Organisation: Hope for the Unborn Child Foundation

Project Summary: To promote the uptake of maternal health services in Egualohor Community, Uhumwode LGA, Edo state through the renovation of existing Primary Health Centre and Nurses quarters; sensitization on uptake of ante-natal services; and provision of vaccine storage and furniture. A minimum of 500 women and persons living in and around the community are expected to benefit.

Organisation: The Balm Empowerment Initiative (TNEI)

Project Summary: Training and empowerment of 30 TBAs and 40 CHEWs at Uhumwonde, Igueben and Ovia North East LGAs. A seminar would also be organised for 30 NYSC/Youth Corpers and 5 NYSC Officials and an estimated 3000 persons which include children, women, youth and men are expected to benefit from the project.

Organisation: St. Monica’s Health Centre Yakoko, Catholic Diocese of Jalingo

Project Summary: To provide free preventive health care services; promote sustainable community based primary health care; establish basic health care services in geographical area in need in Yakoko catchment area; provide an enabling learning environment for OVCs and surgical interventions and care for mother and child (ANC, delivery and post-natal) health. 1000 persons are expected to benefit).

Project Summary: To provide vocational skills training and economically empower 60 IDPs in camps at Pyegi, Abuja@30 (another IDP’s camp), and New Kuchingoro in FCT

Organisation: Youth Progressive Association of Taraba (TYPA)

Project Summary: Enhancing the quality of education through the provision of VIP latrines, water tank and training of pupils and teachers on hygiene and sanitation in 4 schools in Mutumbiyu, Gassol LGA, Taraba state. 800 persons are expected to benefit from the project.

Project Summary: Empowerment of 80 persons with disabilities through skill acquisition in Ekpoma, Igueben, Uromi and Benin City

Organisation: Community Links & Human Empowerment Initiative (CLHEI)

Project Summary: Enhancing skills for 500 rural women farmers in 6 selected communities of Benue and Taraba states in tomatoes and pepper preservation. The project is expected to boost income generation capacity and maximise produce, through improved preservation & packaging.

Project Summary: The project by AHF aims at empowerment, self employment, and leverage on already existing AHF Skills acquisition centre to train 160 unemployed women in different skills to contribute to social development and help prevent social vices in two LGAs in Kebbi State.

Project Summary: Funding for this project will provide training for 45 women and youths on improved seedling of tomatoes, Onions, cucumber, tomatoes fruits and tomatoes processed chips and paste

Project Summary: To empower 20 Youth and women through vocational skills training in sewing and tailoring.
